Migraine Headache Relief
Migraine Headache Relief and Cluster Migraines Research.
Many people suffer from the pain of migraine headaches and need migraine headache relief. This condition can be debilitating and can often interfere with work and other activities. Let's take a look at the symptoms of migraine headaches, and what can be used to help give migraine headache relief.
A migraine headache is caused by an enlargement of the blood vessels and the fibers surrounding these blood vessels. The temporal artery enlarges during a migraine headache and that causes the nerves surrounding this artery to release certain chemicals. This causes inflammation and pain which can often be severe, and these people are in desperate need of migraine headache relief. The symptoms of a migraine are as follows:
1. Moderate to severe pain, often on only one side of head.
2. Pain near or behind the eye on affected side.
3. Pain that become more severe when exposed to light or sound.
4. Nausea or vomiting.
5. Pain that hinders daily activities or interrupts life.
Migraine headaches afflict more than 25 million Americans, and strike women more often than men. Many people cannot perform their daily duties due to these headaches and miss work frequently because of them. For these people, migraine headache relief is badly needed. Migraines can sometimes be prevented by avoiding certain triggers, such as types of food, stress, caffeine and aged cheeses or wines, just to name a few. There are some medications that may be helpful in providing migraine headache relief, and stop an attack once it has started. If used at the onset of a migraine, these drugs can provide migraine headache relief. Medications such as Ibuprofin, Naproxen and Asprin with Caffeine are all good to use at the start of an attack. If these medications are not helpful then medications such as Immitrex, Midrin and Zomig can all be helpful in reducing the pain of a migraine attack, and may even bring total migraine headache relief. There are also a number of preventative medications that may be used such as Cataflam, Elavil, and Topomax. Narcotic pain medication may also be administered in an Emergency Room setting or doctors office, and can sometimes provide migraine headache relief. These types of medications are a short term solution, however, and will not help prevent migraine attacks. It may take some trial and error to find the migraine medication that works best for you and provides total migraine headache relief, but it is well worth the effort.
